HISTORY

The first European Grand Prix, at Lyons in 1924, was also the first race appearance of the brand new Type 35. Due to rear tyre trouble Bugattis could only manage seventh and eighth places. After that was sorted out, noone could beat these cars for many years.
Type 35 won a four-figured number of races!

96 Type 35 (1924-26), 139 Type 35A, 38 Type 35B (1927-30), 50 Type 35C, and 13 Type 35T were made.
Except beeing built in five different models, Type 35 is the big brother of several later Bugatti racers: with a 4 cylinder engine it became Type 37, with a smaller blown eigth Type 39, and with the dohc eight introduced with Type 50 it became Type 51.

Type 35A was a cheaper version, with the Type 38 engine.
