Over ten years in the making, this three-volume work describes the development, the races and the individual histories of all surviving Type 59s.

The book on the Bugatti Type 59 is the first on this last of all Bugatti Grand Prix cars before World War II. It tells the story of the development, the races and the economic situation of Bugatti from the early 1930s until the outbreak of World War II – And so to the end of this legendary French marque altogether.

Never before has a Bugatti been explained in such elaborate detail as this most iconic, rarest and most beautiful Grand Prix Bugatti of them all.

The extensive text partners with exclusively commissioned pictures of the five surviving cars taken at Pebble Beach in 2019. This first gathering since 1935 of the four surviving Grand Prix cars was documented by Automotive photographers Dominic Fraser and Rémi Dargegen. Special studio photographs taken by world-renowned automotive photographer Michael Furman show all cars in detail.

Three Volumes
The first is devoted to the development of the Type 59 and its derivatives. Special CAD drawings have been created exclusively and an enormous amount of unseen period pictures, original factory drawings and documents from the personal archives of the engineers and designers in period are reproduced.

The second explains every race in which a Type 59 took part in period. Contemporary racing pictures, posters and artwork are highlighted. Most of them never been seen before, especially as very high-quality reproductions.

The third explains the history of the individual cars after the Second World War up to the present day. Special studio photographs taken by world-renowned photographer Michael Furman show all cars in detail.

Here the Type 59 with its technically and aesthetically extremely satisfying solutions never fails to impress the observer.

The Slipcase & Base
The limited-edition (59) slipcase sleeve for the three-volume book is milled from a solid block of aluminum. It was developed by acclaimed industrial designer Marc Newson – himself a Type 59 owner.

He took his inspiration for this great artwork from the Type 59’s lightweight frame. Mr. Newson also designed a special, ultra-limited-edition (15) stand to hold this unique collector’s piece.
